About

I am a tinkerer who is obsessed with figuring out how things work, and I love to share the best I find. I have a background in chemistry, so I tend to get excited about anything scientific, but I have a special place in my heart for things that glow or make light.

I started tinkering with light and LEDs in 2009 when I figured out how to make my own programmable device. I got hooked and started making every kind of light I could find. I got so obsessed that I decided to dedicate my time to researching and testing products so others could get the most out of their lights too.

That’s how the Bright Light Guide was born. I’ve been running it for over 5 years now, and I’m proud to say that I run the site full-time and work from my home in Colorado.

I am a former lab researcher turned homeschooling mom. I enjoy all things science, research, engineering, and DIY, particularly lighting. I love finding ways to make our home functional, beautiful and safe. Is it weird that the ‘safety’ aspect of lighting is my favorite?

I just love how we can use light to set the mood of a whole room and to make our home work for us more efficiently…plus, I’m a bit of a home safety nut. I love that light can also make us feel safer, even when it’s just a decorative feature. To me, lighting is much more than just something to see by. It’s a design opportunity and a means to create a pleasant mood.

Inspired by a post I saw on my friend’s Facebook, I decided to start this blog as a place to share my passion for lighting and share resources for other DIY-ers. Also, I know a lot about all the products out there and it might be helpful for you to get them reviewed by an expert. I’m still a newbie to this and hope it will become a long-lasting passion of mine!

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy,
